Thai Airways Bangkok to Phnom Penh Flexi economy on Flight TG584..
Thai Airways operates several daily flights between Bangkok and Phnom Penh, providing a convenient connection between Thailand and Cambodia. On this journey, I flew aboard flight TG584 from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) to Phnom Penh's new Techo International Airport (KTI), travelling in economy class on an Airbus A320.
The flight departed Bangkok at 6:15pm on a Friday evening, making it an ideal option for both business travellers and weekend visitors heading to Cambodia. Despite the relatively short flight time of around one hour and fifteen minutes, Thai Airways still provides a full-service experience that distinguishes it from many low-cost carriers operating in the region.
For this trip, I booked a more expensive Flexi economy fare, which includes the ability to select seats in advance. I chose Seat 31K, one of Thai Airways' Preferred Seats located towards the front of the economy cabin. These seats offer additional legroom compared with standard economy seating and can make a noticeable difference in comfort, particularly for taller passengers.
Boarding at Suvarnabhumi Airport was efficient, and passengers were welcomed onboard by the cabin crew with the traditional Thai wai greeting. This small gesture reflects the airline's reputation for warm Thai hospitality and immediately creates a positive first impression.
The aircraft operating the flight was an Airbus A320 configured with an all-economy cabin. While the route is relatively short, the cabin was comfortable and clean, and the evening departure provided pleasant views as the aircraft climbed out of Bangkok and headed east towards Cambodia.
One of the advantages of flying with a full-service carrier on regional routes is the onboard service. Shortly after take-off, the cabin crew distributed a light meal consisting of a chicken wrap accompanied by a traditional Thai dessert. Passengers were also offered hot coffee and bottled water. While simple, the meal was more substantial than what many travellers might expect on such a short flight and added value to the overall experience.
The flight proceeded smoothly and arrived on schedule at Phnom Penh Techo International Airport. The new airport represents a significant upgrade for Cambodia's capital and is expected to become one of Southeast Asia's most important aviation gateways in the coming years.
Upon arrival, passengers once again experienced Thai Airways' signature hospitality as cabin crew stood at the aircraft door to bid farewell to travellers with another traditional wai greeting.
Overall, TG584 provided a comfortable and efficient journey between Bangkok and Phnom Penh. The combination of seat selection through the Flexi fare, extra legroom in a Preferred Seat, complimentary meal service, and consistently friendly cabin crew made for an enjoyable flight. For travellers looking for a full-service alternative to the region's low-cost carriers, Thai Airways remains a strong choice on this important Southeast Asian route.
